Last week, my family and I went on vacation. As of this writing, we are actually still on vacation, but I took some time to think and write. Not as much as I would have liked, but I got some time in. At any rate, we loved Universal Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando quite a bit. One of the treats of the park is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. In it is, of course, and just as incredible, the shop known as Olivander’s Wands. From the story, Olivander sells wands to young wizards and witches on their way to their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Wands are very unique as the story goes – as unique as the wielder. So much so that a wand that is in the hands of someone other than the one the wand chooses, is less powerful.
There are several character wands to choose from, characters being from the books and films, of course. There are also several non-character wands as well. Something around 50 different styles in all, actually. I was able to narrow my choice to two, not by design, but by story and character qualities of their owners. The next two posts will tell their tales.
